If you were in a disaster such as the one in New Orleans, would you loot? Would you steal to feed your family? I have found that my instant reaction in things like htis is to make sure everyone in my party is ok then start helping others. I was watching the things that were going on down there and saw that many were not doing that. They were more busy yelling in anger than helping each other. I think I would steal to feed my family but not stupid stuff that is not needed at the time.
what do you guys think

Only food medicine such as aspirin quinine for cholera, as much insulin as I could find and my anti seizure pills..hmm water, clothes, anything that would be useful.. water cleansing tablets...first aid kits..torch and if possible batteries..I would love to see that idiotic fecker trying to plug in his stolen tv in a flood, more to the point, is his carer still kicking..

LOL yes that crossed my mind as well. he was holding the stupid thing over his head and the water was up to his chest. would serve him right if he went to plug it in and it shocked the living shit out of him

well it's survival of the fittest isn't it. what else is there to say, you do what you must in order to survive.

i believe you guy's are talking at slightly crossed purposes here though. i mean on the one hand yes it is perfectly acceptable to take things like Band-Aids or certain medications if they are required. however i don't think that any human being in there right mind could reasonably claim that a television is an item of urgently needed medical equipment. the only possible exceptions being escaped mental patients or somebody suffering from a highly unlikely rare medical condition for which only TV magnets can help!

the point here is that yes, on the one hand sometimes you have to do things to survive. but lets not confuse that with the sick individuals that are using this dreadful human tragedy just to further there own personal hall in life.

the only upside to this disturbing trend is that anybody stupid enough to tackle chest high flood waters in order to remove a television from somebody else's house? has a very strong chance of coming a cropper one of these days and drowning! or, better still, is that, having been filmed by a TV crew performing this ignoble act the authorities may take it upon themselves to track this person down, and incarcerate him in a mental hospital for his own good. now what a beautiful twist that would be!

totally agree dan. although being honest when i answered that didn't cross my mind. cause i wouldn't even be thinking of tv if i was in a situation like that

He's either a tv addict who can't bear the thought of missing his cousins on jerry springer..or he's a member of that rare species in america, someone who has never owned a tv..

Yeah I'd tak food and medicine and clothes and stuff, but stealing a TV...How stupid and selfish can you get? It's unnecessary and it's shameful to take advantage of the situation like that. What a freak that guy is.

Maybe he was planning to sell it to buy vital supplies, like cigarettes, beer, drugs or a great big impressive gun..
